Thanks Charlie! The machine is incredible - I am purchasing a few more as we grow!

fabulous to see you interact and preserve the heritage - very cool.

we now have 7 vintage commercial machines and our demand is increasing - would be great to have our little cottage business bloom! good bye day job?!!?

Thanks again,

Fran Fisher

No doubt you do my friend, no doubt you do.
At my current rate of use a 2.29 lb. spool of thread should last me about, oh,,, 28 years or so.
Neither the thread nor I have that kind of shelf life. Especially me. LOL
I did get the samples Robyn sent and of course, it works great.
If it were available in that 1K spool we'd be talking.
It's just impractical, and impossible, for me to stock 20-30 spools of 10 colors $20.00 a spool.
Not that that is a bad price. It's fair but I don't even want to work as hard as it would take to use a 2.29 lb spool. I'm retired for God sake. ;-)
Oh,, I just picked up another machine on ebay. I have developed a real love affair with your machines.
It's a Style 60 "ABBY-4" Ser. # 86068. I haven't quite figured out how to thread it with that open top looper, but I'm getting close. I got it to stitch once for about 4" then it stopped looping. My 60 manual mentions nothing about "ABBY" but I am trying to follow the "4" diagram. Any suggestions?
I'll never sew anything with it since I got it to be a "Shelf Queen" but I do like to see them work.
I have the largest collection of Merrows of anyone I know except for Ember Sewing here in Dunedin. He's got about 60 of them in his storeroom. (I don't actually know anyone else that has any.) He says his kids are going to use them to weigh down his body when they bury him at sea. LOL
I'll be sure and get the co-ordinates where they dump him.
OK, nuf o dis dribble.
Thanks

I am looking for a used but useable, MG-3U machine for doing patches.
I am a retired hobbiest and not a production facility so a new one is out of the question.
How much should I expect to pay for a machine in good condition.
If anyone has one, please let me know at miker1615@aol.com.

I printed off the manual but I really can't see how it all goes together. I am going to work on it the next few days to see if I can figure out how to put it together. I just hope it works I will be very happy if it does.

Thanks for your help with the motor. Are you able to tell me which threads I need for this machine, it is very difficult to buy in Australia and I may need to buy from o/s. Regards, Jo Stewart

Doug Keller replied to Doug Keller's discussion 'Locking in the Start and Finish stitch on circular objects.'
I think I figured it out. I start with about a 4-6"  chain. I start sewing with the edge under the needle. No cutter,(the material is precut and fixed to a freely rotating platform) When it comes around to the end I make sure I pull the…
