AH HA!!! Success.
Well that is actually the name of the thread. Success Serging Yarn. It's perfect and produces an edge as clean as any patch I have seen. Well at least on my old Class A machine it does.

I think that I have found a thread that will work. It is Gutermann buttonhole or topstitch thread. Size 30. This thread seems to fill nicely and I can get a good looking edge in one pass.

I too make some patches and am looking for the right thread for edging them. It appears to be more of a yarn then a thread but so far I haven't had much luck getting other business to share their "secrets".

They could not help with thread selection but recommended a local company that has merrowing machines. Unfortunately they would not provide any information about types of threads.
