Have heard from you yet so I figured I would send some information your way. Changing the needle plate on a machine is relatively simple (although there can be unknown variables that pop up). The four main things to watch out for are: needle slot being large enough for the needle to pass through, cutter slots being the correct size, the feed dog slots being the correct size and looper clearance. I looked in the Descriptive List of Parts Book for MG and M class machines (free download on our support page) on page 13. There you will see a bunch of needle plates. Scan down the Style column and find your machine. Use the listed requirements to the left of the style column (Opening for cutter, maximum needle, feed row) as a guide to find the desired stitch width. Have fun!

MG-3U Looper Video

Charlie,  Any chance you can upload a better video on how to set the loopers?  I was having issues tonight.  The machine would make a chain like a champ but as soon as put a patch on the machine the upper looper thread would break.  Many times many times.  I figured it was an adjustment issue.  I tried to adjust the lower looper so that the point was slightly above the eye of the needle.  This required an adjustment of the upper looper and when adjusting the upper looper it snapped in two.  I…See More

"Hello Charlie, I have left messages with Hoffman Brothers and have not received a response as of yet. I have, however, found that the bubbler on the machine was just loose and that is why it was leaking. It still does not sew properly. Do you know…"
