I had a flood in  my house, I had two machines on the floor not set up yet and got wet, maybe a 1/2 inch or so.  Will I have a problem with them, should I have them serviced. Will they work. The closest agent is 3 hours away.

thank you

Claire,

It is difficult to judge your situation without seeing the machines.

If your machine does not recirculate oil (eg. 60-class or 70-class Merrow machines) you should be okay. If your machine is a M or MG model machine then it recirculates oil. The 1/2 inch of water could have resulted in water entering the machine and you do not want to recirculate water. If this is the case, you should have the machine serviced.

If it is of interest, Merrow offers a factory service program for all Merrow machines. The program is a repair service for machines, and includes new loopers, cutters, a needle (or needle and hook for a crochet machine), as well as a general repair, cleaning and customized sew-off. The program costs $299, which also includes all freight and packaging charges. As long as there is no other significant damage, it would cost you $299/machine to send them to Merrow for a standard factory service.

MG-3U Looper Video

Charlie,  Any chance you can upload a better video on how to set the loopers?  I was having issues tonight.  The machine would make a chain like a champ but as soon as put a patch on the machine the upper looper thread would break.  Many times many times.  I figured it was an adjustment issue.  I tried to adjust the lower looper so that the point was slightly above the eye of the needle.  This required an adjustment of the upper looper and when adjusting the upper looper it snapped in two.  I…See More
